If there’s one thing every guest asks us before their trip, it’s how to get to the beach — and the answer is refreshingly simple: you walk.

The only fully swimmable beach in Cabo San Lucas

Medano Beach sits inside a protected bay where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez, which shields it from the strong currents and riptides found along most of the Los Cabos coastline. That makes it the only beach in Cabo San Lucas proper where swimming is genuinely safe and easy, not just tolerated. It’s calm, shallow near the shore, and lined with palapas, beach clubs, and water sports rentals if you want to add a jet ski or paddleboard to the day.

Getting there from Endless Summer

From the condo, it’s about a 350-meter walk — roughly five minutes. Exit toward the Riu Resort and use the public beach access at their entrance (open 9am–6pm daily, marked “Acceso a Playa Pública”). It’s a genuinely pleasant walk through manicured, landscaped paths, not a back-alley shortcut. Follow the signage straight through and you’ll come out right onto the sand.

There are no restrictions on walking the beach itself once you’re on it — you can follow the shoreline all the way to the marina if you want the exercise. Budget about 20–25 minutes to reach The Office and the other well-known beachfront restaurants near the marina end.

If you want to explore further

Medano isn’t the only good option in the area. Several beaches around Los Cabos carry Blue Flag certification — an international standard for water quality, safety, and environmental care — including Chileno Beach, Santa Maria Beach, and Palmilla Beach. All three are easy day-trip distances if you have a car or want to book a taxi for the day, and each has calmer, clearer water that’s excellent for snorkeling.

Whichever beach you end up on, our best advice is the same one we give every guest in person: enjoy the swimmable water at Medano, but be cautious anywhere else along the coast — the currents outside the bay are no joke, even for strong swimmers.
