Most visitors see the famous Arch at Land’s End from the deck of a boat. Fewer know you can hike above it instead — and the view from up there is worth setting an early alarm for.

The Mt. Solmar trail

The hike climbs above Land’s End for panoramic views of the point where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez — the same landmark everyone photographs from the water, seen from above instead. It’s a genuinely different perspective on Cabo’s most famous few hundred meters of coastline.

A local guide, Enrique, leads the hike daily starting around 8:00 AM. Plan for roughly two hours round trip. The trail is moderate to strenuous, with steep, rocky terrain in places, so it’s a better fit for guests comfortable with a real hike than a casual morning stroll — but nothing about it requires technical experience.

What to bring

Go early. Starting at 8am isn’t just about Enrique’s schedule — the desert sun climbs fast, and there’s little shade on the exposed sections. Bring more water than you think you’ll need, wear real hiking shoes rather than sandals for the rocky footing, and pack sun protection. A camera or phone with a wide-angle lens doesn’t hurt either; the views at the top are the kind you’ll want more than one photo of.

Worth the early start

Between the elevation and the early light, this is one of the best vantage points in Los Cabos for photos of the Arch, and it comes with none of the crowds you’ll find on the boat tours later in the day. If hiking isn’t your thing, a boat trip to the Arch is still a great way to see it up close — but if you want the view nobody else gets, this is the way to do it.
